The operating layer for fiscal sponsorship
One place for the sponsor's filing calendar and the sponsored project's activity. Sponsored projects record what actually happened; the sponsor rolls it up into workpapers and filing packets — federal and state — ready for officer and CPA authorization.
Fiscal Sponsor OS uses a different login from Grant Ops. Same company, not the same session.
Important legal disclaimer
NGO Analytics prepares workpapers and filing packets. It is not a substitute for a CPA or return preparer and is not tax or legal advice. E-file happens only after an officer (and typically a CPA/ERO) authorizes. We do not claim to file your taxes.
Two sides, one system of record
Fiscal sponsorship is a two-sided relationship, so the product is built around both parties — and it still works if a project isn't on the platform.
The 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor
Holds the EIN and legal responsibility for filings. Reviews activity submitted by sponsored projects, rolls it up into the sponsor's books, and prepares the annual filing packet — Form 990/990-EZ/990-N, state returns, and supporting workpapers — for officer and CPA/ERO authorization.
Sponsored projects
Model A (comprehensive) and Model C (pre-approved grant relationship) projects submit revenue, expense, and activity detail through the platform. Everything rolls up to the sponsor by project, so the sponsor sees the full picture without chasing spreadsheets.
Off-platform seekers
Not under a sponsor yet, or working outside the platform? You can still record a sponsor name and EIN on a project so the paperwork trail — and who is responsible for what — is documented from day one.
The federal calendar, explained
What a sponsor is on the hook for each year — tracked, prepared as workpapers, and packaged for authorized e-filing. Due dates are shown for the year in effect at the time of filing.
Annual information return
Form 990, 990-EZ, or 990-N (e-Postcard), depending on gross receipts and assets. Due the 15th day of the 5th month after fiscal year end. We prepare the workpapers and the filing packet; an authorized officer signs.
Extensions — Form 8868
Automatic extension for the annual return. We track the deadline and prepare the 8868, then the amended timeline that follows it.
E-file signature — Form 8879-TE
Exempt organization e-file signature authorization. The return is transmitted only after an officer (and typically a CPA/ERO) has authorized — we do not claim to file your taxes.
UBIT — Forms 990-T / 990-W
If the organization has unrelated business taxable income, Form 990-T applies (with Form 990-W used to compute estimated tax). We flag likely UBIT triggers from recorded activity and prepare the workpapers.
Payroll outputs — W-2/W-3 and 1099 via IRIS
Wage and contractor filings, including 1099 e-filing through the IRS IRIS portal. Quarterly Form 941 reminders keep employment-tax deadlines visible — Fiscal Sponsor OS is not a payroll engine and does not run your payroll.
Single Audit (2 CFR 200 Subpart F)
Required when federal expenditures meet the threshold in effect for the fiscal year. We track the year-in-effect threshold, identify the trigger, and assemble the SEFA and auditor-ready workpapers.
50-state + DC registration index
We maintain rules and filing packets for all 50 states plus DC — charitable solicitation registration, state exempt-org / attorney general annual reports, SOS entity reports, and employer withholding / SUTA where the organization has employees. E-filing is supported per state where an official transmitter exists; we do not claim to e-file every state.
Form numbers and due dates change — always confirm them for the year in effect before filing. Some states do not require general charitable registration (DE, ID, IN, IA, MT, NE, SD, VT); those organizations may still have SOS entity and employer filing obligations.
